Lamond Dean was named Superintendent of Schools for the Chapel Hill Independent School District (CHISD) on February 26, 2018, and is a proud graduate of the 1991 Class of Chapel Hill High School.
After graduating high school, Mr. Dean attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, and Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where he excelled in academics and athletics before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Dean furthered his education by earning a Masters of Education, receiving his principal’s certificate at Texas A&M-Commerce, and completing his Superintendent certification in 2015 from Texas A&M Texarkana.
Mr. Dean is well versed in the school business having proudly served in the positions of teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, executive director of operations, deputy superintendent and superintendent. While serving as CHISD High School Principal, his campus received prestigious recognition by earning 17 out of 20 TEA Academic Distinctions in his final three years. Mr. Dean gives credit for the remarkable academic accomplishments to his faculty and staff.
Mr. Dean has been in education 25+ years with 16 of these years at CHISD.
CHISD is located approximately seven miles east of Tyler, Texas. Chapel Hill ISD participates in planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of innovative educational programs with Region 7 Education Service Center in Kilgore, Texas.
Mr. Dean and his wife Sabrina, a proud CHISD dyslexia specialist, have three children Deaveron, Braylon, and Bryson. Deaveron is a CHISD graduate, Braylon is beginning his senior year and Bryson is starting his freshman year in high school.
Mr. Dean has a firm belief that education is the key to a student’s success. He has an unwavering desire to help all students succeed and sees just how far anyone can go in life with the right encouragement and direction.
