In a heartwarming display of positivity and community-building, students at Jackson Elementary are embracing a new initiative centered around affirmations. The school has introduced an Affirmation Board as part of the Capturing Kids Hearts Program, strategically placed in a centralized location on campus. “Jackson’s Affirmation Board continues to Capture Kids Hearts and we couldn’t be more proud of the positivity present on the campus,” gushed Principal Judy Carpenter. This board has become a focal point for students to share and celebrate uplifting messages, fostering a culture of encouragement and support. As part of daily routines, students gather around the Affirmation Board, sharing affirmations that highlight their classmates' strengths, achievements, and unique qualities.

The program not only promotes a sense of belonging, but also enhances the overall well-being of the school community. Jackson Elementary is buzzing with the infectious positivity emanating from this simple yet powerful practice, demonstrating how small gestures can have a big impact on creating a nurturing and affirming learning environment. Jackson would like to encourage the community to continue this practice at home, to spread the love and appreciation we should all share for one another. Mrs. Lacy, the campus counselor, has been focusing her lessons on filling the bucket of others. She is teaching that we need to fill buckets with positive affirmations, rather than being a bucket dumper. Everyone has value and we all need to feel that support. Students are even encouraged to use sentence starters to help them write in complete sentences as well as a guide for how to be a bucket filler.
