CHISD Addresses Misinformation Circulating on Social Media

Chapel Hill Independent School District wants to clarify a recent social media post circulating within the community. The post read as follows:

“ High School Kid Searched!!….And Gun And Ammo Found!….Parents Talk To Your Kids!!!!”

The post claimed that a high school student was found with a gun and ammunition on Tuesday, October 31. This information is entirely false.

What did happen: On Tuesday, October 31, a spent/empty bullet shell casing was discovered on the floor at the Career and Technical Education (CTE) building. Following standard safety protocols, the campus administration promptly conducted searches of students and their belongings.

No weapons or ammunition was found during these searches. All students and staff are safe.

The District assures parents and the community that the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. The District takes all potential threats seriously and responds swiftly and appropriately to ensure a secure learning environment for everyone.
