Today, we are celebrating Jackson Elementary Principal Amelia Chavez—a leader who works to create a welcoming, safe and supportive environment where students and employees can learn, grow and make mistakes without fear of judgment.
“Ms. Chavez is very approachable and always willing to help,” said Ruth Zuniga, second-grade CHAMPS teacher. “When she comes into my classroom, I feel supported rather than nervous or judged. I truly feel that she wants us to grow, flourish and become better teachers.”
Ms. Chavez says what she loves about being a principal is that it is like being a teacher, but for 400 students and 30 teachers—it’s like the absolute best!
A few fun facts about Ms. Chavez: When she is away from school, she wants to be on an airplane headed somewhere new, and her go-to beverage is an Alani!

Effective TODAY, students must have a completed 2026–2027 Bus Rider Eligibility Form in Skyward and have their badge before they are permitted to ride a district bus.
Students who are registered but have not been actively riding will be removed from the active rider list. To reactivate transportation services, a parent or guardian must contact the Transportation Department directly.
If your student has not completed the 2026–2027 Bus Rider Eligibility Form in Skyward or does not have their badge, they will not be permitted to ride the bus and must be picked up from campus.
For assistance with registration or questions about your student’s bus status, please call 903-566-2441.
