Chapel Hill High School Student Wins Prestigious 2024 Congressional Art Award

Chapel Hill, Smith County - Chapel Hill High School is proud to announce that Everett Murrietta, a talented art student, has won first place in the 2024 Congressional Art Contest for our congressional district.

Everett's exceptional artwork, titled "Collection of Contemplation," has secured a prominent spot at the Washington D.C. Capitol Building for an entire year, exclusively representing Chapel Hill High School.

In recognition of his outstanding achievement, Everett will be attending the Congressional Art Reception opening in June 2024, where he will be honored by Congressman Nathaniel Moran alongside other distinguished congressmen.

Competing against 36 students from 20 private and public schools in our Congressional district, Everett emerged victorious, showcasing the depth of his artistic talent.

As part of his first-place win, Everett received a Congressional First Place certificate for his original art, two Southwest airline tickets to Washington DC with accommodations for the ceremony, a $200 Visa gift card from the Eastman Credit Union, and "The Official Congressional Challenge Coin" from Congressman Nathaniel Moran—an accolade typically reserved for military personnel.

Everett Murrietta is no stranger to artistic success. As a CHHS Gold Seal Art Medalist from the 2023 VASE competition, his artwork was among the top 150 selected out of 32,000 entries for the "Best of the Best" artworks in the State of Texas.

Congratulations to the extraordinary and gifted young artist, Everett Murrietta, for achieving the highest recognition a high school art student can receive.
