Chapel Hill High School’s Student Senate, along with students throughout the district, including Jackson Elementary’s Student Council, collected money for the Shoes for Kids fundraiser. This fundraiser benefits students throughout the district to fulfill their need for new shoes. Students from Jackson Elementary were included in this opportunity, and their gratitude was evident to anyone who saw them. Chapel Hill High School’s Student Senate students went on a field trip to the mall with students chosen based on need, and helped them shop for shoes, enjoy lunch, and encourage a sense of community and mentorship. This annual trip occurs near Thanksgiving each year, as students find ways to be grateful and spread cheer.

Jackson Elementary is grateful to this opportunity for supporting students, building community,  and bringing positivity to the forefront. Principal Judy Carpenter said, “This is a traditional celebration of community love to our students that serves the families of Chapel Hill well.” Shoes for Kids is an annual fundraiser, so regular donations from the community are greatly appreciated.
