Chapel Hill High School students got a glimpse of what life after graduation could look like during the College and Career Fair held on campus today. From college recruiters to career exploration, students had the opportunity to discover a wide variety of postsecondary options.

“It’s important for us to expose our students to the world outside of Chapel Hill,” said Kelly Wilkes, Public and Human Services Academy counselor. “Senior year will get here before they know it and students need to start having an idea of what interests them.”

The event brought together representatives from colleges, universities and various career fields, giving students a chance to ask questions, explore potential career paths and begin planning for their futures.

“Events like this give students a vision to know what else is out there,” said Laura Varnado, Business and Industry Academy counselor. “It ties into our Academies model because students can see what they are learning here and how they can keep expanding on that knowledge later.”

While a four-year university may be the right choice for some students, others may pursue technical training, military service or enter the workforce directly after graduation. The fair highlighted the variety of pathways available and encouraged students to consider options that align with their interests and goals.

“We’ve been hosting an event like this for years and it’s great for our students,” said Brad Hickman, Technology and Engineering counselor. “I thought it was great to see the various career fields. The Texas Park and Wildlife department was here to talk about the different careers you could get working for the state.”

By bringing these opportunities directly to campus, the Academies of Chapel Hill continues to support students by helping them discover their interests, explore career possibilities and make informed decisions about their futures. Whether their next step leads to college, technical training, military service or a career, the goal is to ensure students leave Chapel Hill with a plan and a purpose.
