Chapel Hill ISD employees to receive 7-10% pay increases district wide
Chapel Hill ISD employees are rejoicing! On July 15, the Board of Trustees approved pay raises for all, yes ALL, employees.
In June, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a massive overhaul of the state’s school finance system, providing more funds to schools districts in order to educate the millions of students currently enrolled in public schools. The CHISD school board studied that multibillion-dollar school finance bill and worked tirelessly to ensure that our district’s budget included the priority of raising salaries for CHISD’s hard working teachers and staff.
Thanks to their approval, this school year, teachers, counselors, nurses, and librarians, will receive a 7% to 10%, depending on their experience level. All other district employees will receive a pay increase of 7% of their pay grade midpoint plus market adjustments.
Trustees also approved raising the salary for first-year teachers to $47,000, up from $43,600 in 2018-2019, making CHISD highly competitive with larger districts. It is the hope of CHISD, that with this pay increase, the district will retain great educators while enlisting new, talented, and dedicated teachers.
The staff here at Chapel Hill ISD would like to thank our incredible board members for their time and efforts in making this happen for our talented group of educators. We are off to a great start to the 2019-2020 school year!
