School Volunteers are now called Bulldog Buddies!

  • If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at our school in any capacity, you have come to the right page. We are starting a Volunteer program called "Bulldog Buddies". This program gives an opportunity for Community Members, and parents to become involved in our school system. Whether you want to volunteer in the classroom or at a specific event, we can help you out!

Here is what you need to do. Pick up a Volunteer Packet from the front office in Mrs. Opal Pettigrew's Office. Fill out the first page which is a checklist of which areas you would like to volunteer. Then, you must fill out the attached Background Check forms. Once these documents are filled out, bring your application back to Mrs. Opal's office. You must also turn in a copy of a State-Issued Identification (Driver's License) with your packet, if you would like to become a volunteer. Once you have completed this, the forms will be turned into Mrs. Sims, one of our Counselors. She will be in touch with you regarding your approval status. Once you hear from her, you will be able to sign up to become a volunteer. If  you are wanting to sign up for specific days to volunteer in the classroom, you will need to call Mrs. Sims. Her number is 903-566-8334 Ext. 1203. You may also email her at She is the Volunteer Coordinator at our school.

These are a few important things to know about volunteering. You must fill out the background check forms every year, even if you have volunteered in years past. We must have a copy of a current state-issued identification as well. The background check forms are free to fill out, with no fee. PTO is partnering with our Bulldog Buddies program to create a cohesive volunteer process. So, if you sign up to become a classroom volunteer, you also become a part of the PTO! If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Mrs. Sims.

We are so excited to launch this program, and to partner with the PTO this year! We will have a great year at Kissam, and we are excited to see many volunteers serving on our campus!
