Our Superintendent

  • Mr. Dean
Mr. Lamond Dean was named Superintendent of Schools for the Chapel Hill Indpendent School District on February 26, 2018.  He previously served as Chapel Hill ISD's Deputy Superintendent, Executive Director of Operations and High Schoo Principal from 2006 until his appointment as Interim Superintendent in November of 2017.  Lamond Dean is a proud graduate of the 1991 class of Chapel Hill High School and fortunate to have been a part of the 1989 Bulldog State Championship Football Team.  After graduating high school, Mr. Dean attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, and Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where he exceled in academics before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Mr. Dean also played football for the Murray State Racers and loved every minute spent on the playing field.  Mr. Dean furthered his education by earning a Masters of Education, received his principal’s certificate at Texas A&M-Commerce, and completed his Superintendent certification in 2015 from Texas A&M-Texarkana.  Mr. Dean is well versed in the school business having proudly served in the position of teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, executive director of operations, duty superintendent and on February 26, 2018, he received the proud honor of becoming Superintendent of Schools at Chapel Hill ISD!  I guess one could say, “Mr. Dean has worn many hats!”  While wearing the hat of CHISD High School Principal, his campus received prestigious recognition by meeting all seven TEA Academic Distinctions, which as many of you know is no small feat.  Mr. Dean’s first year as high school principal his campus received four of six academic distinctions.  His second year as high school principal his campus received seven of seven academic distinctions.  His last year as high school principal, Mr. Dean left at mid-term to assume a new position.  Although only on the campus half of that school year, his high school campus still received six of seven academic distinctions.  Overall, during his time spent serving as high school principal his campus received seventeen out of twenty academic distinctions.  Mr. Dean, of course, gives credit for the remarkable academic accomplishments to his faculty and staff; however, you and I know this would not be possible without a top-notch leader.

Mr. Dean has been in education 20+ years with 11 of these years at Chapel Hill ISD.  Chapel Hill ISD is located approximately seven miles east of Tyler, Texas.  Chapel Hill ISD participates in planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of innovative educational programs with Region 7 Education Service Center in Kilgore, Texas.

Mr. Dean and his wife Sabrina, a proud CHISD elementary teacher, have three children Deaveron, Braylon, and Bryson.  Deaveron is a CHISD graduate, Braylon is now in middle school and Bryson is in elementary.  *An interesting bit of trivia – Deaveron, Mr. Dean’s oldest son, was a member of the 2011 Bulldog State Championship Football Team.  His son’s 2011-football team unfortunately did not take home the State Championship Trophy that year, as did his dad’s 1989 football team.  Nonetheless, both Mr. Dean and his son, Deaveron, count it a blessing to have experienced the exhilarating emotion of winning enough games under the Friday Night Lights to be propelled into an opportunity of a lifetime…both got the thrill of playing for a State Championship!  Few father and sons know this feeling and both realize just how special it is to have shared such excitement!

Mr. Dean feels leading this district is a great honor and a great responsibility.  He will tell you he is a very driven person with an unwavering desire to help all students succeed.  Mr. Dean enjoys seeing just how far anyone can go in life with the right encouragement and direction.
