Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Heather Williams

I am very excited to have your child in our First Grade Class!  We are going to have a wonderful year!  Watching children learn new concepts and skills every day, while gaining self-confidence, is the greatest part of teaching.  I love to see their growth from the first day of the school year to the last day.

I am a graduate of Chapel Hill High School.  I completed my Student Teaching in Second Grade at Jackson Elementary, and after that experience I knew Jackson Elementary was definitely where I wanted to teach.  I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Tyler.  I am certified to teach 1st-8th grades and have my Early Childhood and English as a Second Language Endorsements.

This is my 14th year to teach at Jackson Elementary.  I taught 2nd Grade ESL my first year here.  I then taught Kindergarten for 11 years.  This is my second year to teach First Grade.
Your child's days in First Grade will be full of Language Arts, Reading , Writing, Language Enrichment, Scientific Spelling, Thinking Maps, Literacy Stations, Math Learning Experiences, Math Stations, Science, and Social Studies.  The students will work in small groups, and with partners.  He/she will also attend PE, Music, Library, and the Computer Lab on a rotating schedule.  My goal is for your child to enjoy learning so much that he/she cannot wait to come to school each morning!
I invite you to visit our class.  Also, if you have questions, my conference period is 9:15 am -10:15 am every day.  Our campus phone number is 903-566-3411.
