Students will receive instruction in the four core areas: ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE, AND SOCIAL STUDIES. In addition to these four classes, students will have a daily class which will focus on social skills. Students will be encouraged to set goals and develop problem-solving and coping skills. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of S.T.E.P.S. Alternative School is to provide a safe, disciplined environment that encourages students to develop and succeed at their own pace. S.T.E.P.S. provides an environment that will encourage and promote academic and behavioral potential by developing positive attitudes, a sense of self-worth, and a vision of becoming successful and productive citizens in the community.
FOCUS
1. To provide a safe, secure environment that is conducive to learning. 2. To prepare students to participate successfully in the community in which they live and will participate as adults. Students will follow the Chapel Hill Independent School District Student Code of Conduct. In addition, students will be placed on a behavioral motivation system which allows students to earn levels. With this system, students, staff, and parents can monitor the student’s behavioral progress toward appropriate classroom conduct and reactions. |
