| Structuring Good Character |
|
For a child to build any kind of successful “character” system, there must be external structure present. The type of external structure we choose to use with young children will greatly influence the character structure that children build within themselves. Structure is essential for survival. It defines how we function. Without structure there is chaos. Young children from chaotic environments may spend their day creating chaos at school in an attempt to make it be more what they are use to at home. Parents and other significant adults must provide structure that involves teaching children to be responsible, to be courteous and eventually develop morals and values. |
