About Coach Schminkey

Coach Schminkey is back at Chapel Hill after being here from 2000-20002.  This is his 9th year to be coaching and teaching.  He is a 1996 graduate of Chapel Hill and received his degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2000.  Along with teaching math Coach Schminkey coaches offensive line, powerlifting and track.

Course Descriptions

Algebra II (0260)
Grades: 10-12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I and Geometry

Note: This course is required on the Recommended and Distinguished graduation plans for students entering 9th grade in 2004-05 through 2006-07 and for all students entering 9th grade in 2007-08 and after.

This course emphasizes:

  • the study of algebraic concepts and the relationships among them
  • the perception of functions/equations as a means for analyzing and understanding a variety of relationships
  • tools for algebraic thinking, including powerful calculators
  • continual use of problem-solving
