Colored Folders

Purple = Take home folder
                
(contains all graded papers)

Reading homework each week

Monday: (only applies to the students in my small group and only when teacher sees a need)
Take home decodable book, read it to a parent, and have them sign it. Due on Tuesday.

Tuesday: Write spelling words three times each.

Thursday: Write a summary (atleast half a page) of the weeks story.

 

Spelling words: brand, plan, candy, hobby, read, top, us, jump, send, tell, prison, last, robbers, struggle, listen, friendship, under, think, themselves

 

Vocabulary words: tyrant, rebel, appointed, traitor, honorable, proclaimed, champion, journey, resist, astonished

Accelerated Reading (AR) Schedule

This is the schedule for AR.  It's the beginning and ending date to start taking tests. 

First Six Weeks= Sept. 4-Oct.2

Second Six Weeks = Oct. 3 - Nov. 13

Third Six Weeks = Nov.14 - Jan. 15

Fourth Six Weeks = Jan. 20 - Feb. 26

Fifth Six Weeks = Feb. 27 - April 23

Sixth Six Weeks = April 24 - May 28

Quiz Your Child! 

Questions to ask them:

  1. This six weeks Reading theme is Friendship. After Monday, ask your child what the story was about. What type of story is it?
  2. Each day, ask them to tell you a new vocabulary word. What does it mean? How was it used in the story?
  3. What do all of the spelling words have in common?
  4. What are the different spelling patterns?
  5. What sound spelling card can they look at in the classroom to help them?

Social Studies:   This week we are learning about timelines in Social Studies. Please consider helping your child with the extra credit that was sent home on Wednesday.
