About  Ms. Gallahan

Ms. Gallahan teaches Technology Systems, World Geography, and Criminal Justice classes.  She is an alumni of Chapel Hill schools and has been on the staff for over a decade.  She can be contacted at 903-566-2311 ext. 1456.  The best time to reach her is from 9:35-10:25am.  She received her bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.

World Geography (0420)
Grade: 9    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
This course emphasizes:

  • the nature of physical and cultural geography
  • the human interaction to physical environments in major regions and settings
  • a practical understanding of maps, charts, graphs, and globes

Technical Introduction to Criminal Justice (5070)
Grades: 10-12    Length: l semester     Credit: ½ credit      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: None
This course emphasizes:

  • a study of the history and philosophy of criminal justice and its ethical considerations
  • the impact and nature of crime on society
  • an overview of the criminal justice system: law enforcement and the court systems, a study of prosecution and defense, trial processes, and corrections and penal systems

Crime & Investigation in America (5073)
Grades: 10-12    Length: 1 semester      Credit: ½ credit      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Technical Introduction to Criminal Justice recommended
This course emphasizes:

  • an introduction to American crime problems in an historical perspective
  • social policy affecting crime
  • impact and crime trends
  • social characteristics of specific crimes
  • prevention of crime
  • a basic understanding of investigative theory
  • collection and preservation of evidence and sources of information
  • methods of conducting interviews and interrogations
  • opportunities to discover uses of forensic sciences and preparation of cases and trials

Technology Systems: Modular Computer Laboratory-Based (7020)
Grades: 9-12    Length: 2 semesters      Credit: 1 credit per year     GPA weight: 1.0

Note: This course meets the state requirements for Technology Applications credit.

This course emphasizes:

  • an introduction of the application of technology to solve problems and meet human needs and wants at home, in communities, and at work
  • laboratory module experiences focused on the technology systems of bio-related technology, communication, computer applications, construction, energy, power, transportation, and manufacturing
  • design/problem-solving, evolving technologies, safety, maintenance, entrepreneurship, leadership, careers, and marketing.
