Reading: 

The story that we are reading this week is, "The Polar Express".  

We will be reiviewing all reading skills taught so far this year. (Cause/Effect, Main Idea, Summarizing, Author's Purpose, Sequencing)

Every week we get new vocabulary and spelling words that go along with the story that we are reading. We also work on a new skill each week that will prepare us for the TAKS test in March. 

Social Studies:

In Social Studies this week we will continue working on directions and introduce grids.

Homework Schedule:  (MAKE SURE TO SIGN YOUR CHILD'S PLANNER EVERYNIGHT)

Monday- Choose 10 spelling words and write each one in a sentence.

Tuesday- Write a complete sentence using the rest of the 10 spelling words.

Wednesday-  Write vocabulary words in a story.

Thursday- Read Decoable and study for vocabulary and spelling test.

Friday- Read 

Weekly Assessments
We have weekly spelling and vocabulary assessments. Be sure to practice, practice, practice !!!

Read to Succeed!
Make sure that we are reading at least 15 minutes every night, it really makes a huge difference.
