Dear Parents & Students,

I have enjoyed working with your children this year. They have worked very hard and I am extremely proud of their success. Never miss the chance to give them a pat on the back or hug to let them know how proud you are of them. (Watch, as they glow!!!) During the summer, please remind them to read. Make it as fun and enjoyable as possible!! A suggestion would be to go the local Library or a used book store and let them pick out a variety of "summer reading" materials. This will keep them in the "practice" of reading daily.  A "Suggested Summer Reading" list will be sent home with your child's report card. 

FYI: My last day will be May 22 and the students will have a substitute teacher for the remainder of the year. Please look at your child's planner for any new info/behavioral problems that may occur during the last week of school. If you need to leave a message at the front desk for me, please feel free to do so. I will try to return your message in a timely manor. Have a safe and relaxing summer.

Thursday:  5/22/08--- Selection Test- "Koya's Cousin Dell"

Friday: 5/23/2008 Spelling Test (Last one for this school year!!!)

Reading Skill: Visualizing **Ask your child to visualize something (like icecream on a hot day) and describe it to you in detail, using as many adjectives as possible.

Spelling Skill: Unexpected letters ( ie and ei) and other spellings  ***Remember the rule: i before e accept after the letter c  (examples: friend and receive)

HOMEWORK      

TUESDAY: Work on your Spelling Voc Flip Book, and read your AR book for 20 min.

WEDNESDAY: Write an exciting story using 10 of your spelling words and 5 of your vocabulary words, and read your AR book for 20 min.

THURSDAY: Take a practice Spelling Test and return it to school for proof, and read your AR book for 20 min.******Study/review your Voc. Words for your test on Friday.

FRIDAY: Spelling Test (1-20) with a Bonus

Classroom News

Progress Reports: Please check your child's progress report, sign it and return it to school. Thanks

Make-up Field Trip: Tuesday, May 27th, Kilgore Oil Museum. Please re-sign the new permission slip given out on Monday, ASAP. Your child will need to bring a sack lunch or request one from the cafeteria. Please let us know.

Book Fair: The book fair will run Monday-Friday (8:30 am-2:30 pm)

******AR WILL END ON FRIDAY MAY 23rd. Please encourage your child to read nightly, and obtain his/her AR GOAL!!!

*****All Library books are due back to the Library before or "no later than", FRIDAY, MAY 23rd.
