Symphonic Band
It's hard to believe that the first six weeks is already gone! For this six weeks, students must play off four major scales, the chromatic scale and two all-region etudes. We also will be playing at four football games. Oct. 11, 18. 25 and Nov. 1 will all be game nights. We will travel to Bullard on the 25. Our cherrydale Farms fundraiser orders are due Oct. 12. Our new band officers for the year are Jasmine Finley, Antonio Zavala, Ryan Ratliff, Tamera Kennedy, Jacob Ratliff, Ashlee Greenlee, Adriana Cicero, Maranda Grimmett, Hannah Burns and Dillon McKelvey. They are already doing a fantastic job of working for the band.

Sax, Clarinet and Trumpet Class
It's hard to believe that the first six weeks is already gone! The students are doing great and working hard. You will soon begin hearing songs you will recognize! Please encourage your child when you hear them play. They thrive on your praise and it motivates them to try even harder. Your encouragement will do more for them than anything we can EVER do! Brag, brag and brag some more when they play for you. This makes our band program VERY successful!  Our Cherrydale fundraiser is due Oct. 12. Money is not due until the items ordered are here. Be sure to plan on hearing the Christmas Concert. You will be surprised at how much your child has learned!

Flute and Trombone Class
It's hard to believe the first six weeks is already over! The students are working very hard and learning a lot. You will begin hearing songs that you recognize now. When they play for you, be sure to praise them for how well they are doing. Your words of praise are wings to them and it motivates them to try even harder. Brag, brag and brag some more when they play for you! It makes us ALL winners!  Our Cherrydale Farm fundraiser orders are due Oct. 12. Our Christmas concert is Dec. 13. Be sure to be there! It will be at the high school auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. You'll be surprised at how much they have learned!

Course Descriptions

BAND                                                                    All Year

The middle school band is divided into a symphonic band and a concert band comprised of 7th and 8th grade students. Band students will be auditioned on selected music and placed into the appropriate band. The band program includes a focus on music theory, technique, reading, expression, intonation, cultural growth, citizenship and mental/physical discipline. One year of band or equivalent private instruction is required.
