Classroom Activities

AR Reading
Students should be reading daily in their Accelerated Reader book. Students should read a minimum of 20 minutes per day in order to achieve their AR goal. Parents can help with this at home by checking to make sure that your child does this. You may ask them to summarize what they read, or ask questions regarding the characters or action occurring in the story. Your interest will show them that you think what they are reading is important!

Course Descriptions

READING                                              All Year

Seventh grade reading builds on the concepts and skills previously taught to assist students in becoming successful readers. This goal is met through an aligned and integrated curriculum using the TEKS. Strong emphasis is placed on vocabulary development, listening skills, reading rate, and comprehension skills. Students are exposed to various types of literature. In addition, reading is applied to everyday life experiences. The Accelerated Reader program is used to develop independent reading skills and promote lifelong readers.
