About Ms. Greene

Ms. Greene is the teacher of  our Graphic Arts/Desktop Publishing program.  She is a graduated student of The Art Institute of Dallas receiving her degree in Applied Arts and Science and is currently attending UT Tyler to obtain her Masters of Fine Arts.

She was born and raised in Chicago IL and moved to Dallas TX in September of 1997.  After receiving her college degree she moved to Tyler TX where she worked for the S.T.E.P.S program found in the Technical Building.

"Tiecee-T love the kids" states Ms. Greene, "without our future we have no need to track our past.  Our children are very important and I would love to provide them with the skills they'll need to excel in the Graphic Design industry."

Course Descriptions

Introduction to Graphic Communication Careers (0830)
Grades: 9-11    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year     GPA weight: 1.0
This course emphasizes:

  • a broad base of career opportunities, training requirements, and minimal skills in graphic communications, advertising design, drafting, and commercial photography

Technical Introduction to Desktop Publishing (0870)
Grades: 10-12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Introduction to Graphic Communication Careers
This course emphasizes:

  • an overview of computers and software packages used for desktop publishing
  • desktop hardware and software as they relate to publishing, drafting, and graphics
  • the operation and use of desktop packages and how they fit together in the desktop publishing environment
  • the related industries that utilize desktop publishing

Desktop Design (0860)
Grades: 11-12     Length: 2 semesters      Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Technical Introduction to Desktop Publishing and teacher approval
This course emphasizes:

  • instruction in designing graphics using a computer and a variety of graphics software
  • evaluation of current trends in graphic design
  • appreciation of the value of good designs
  • an appraisal of the design level related to the printing process, paper, ink and associated elements

Graphic Arts I (0880)
Grades: 11-12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 2 credits per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Desktop Design or taken simultaneously with Desktop Design; teacher approval

Note: This course meets two periods daily and meets state requirements for P.E. credits.

This course emphasizes:

  • job-specific training for entry-level employment in graphic communications careers
  • principles and use of desktop publishing
  • electronic imaging, reproduction photography, image assembly and plate making
  • offset press operations and binding and finishing

Graphic Arts II (0890)
Grades: 12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 2 credits per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Graphic Arts I and teacher approval
This course emphasizes:

  • additional training in skills outlined above under Graphic Arts I
