Third grade will go on their first field trip of the year on December 18th! Look for more details coming soon!
3rd Grade News for the 2nd 6 Weeks As we begin the 3rd six weeks, here are some areas of study we will be beginning. In Math, we have been working on multiplication (through arrays and problem solving). Please encourage your child to practice their multiplication facts as it will be helpful when we begin division. This six weeks we will learn about number and pictorial patterns and end the six weeks with the study of area and perimeter. In Reading, the students will begin a unit on Imagination. Many of their stories will have to do with this theme. Remind your child to read at least 20 minutes every night. It would be great if more of our 3rd graders reached their AR goal and could attend the Bulldog Award field trip. 4th grade Reading and Language Arts Next six weeks in reading, we will read stories about how learning and working lead to success. Our skills will include: making judgments, drawing conclusions, character, context clues, generalizing, tall tales compared to realistic fiction, and autobiographies. In Language Arts, we will learn possessive nouns, subject-verb agreement, adjectives, combining sentences, writing friendly letters, and proofreading. Students are writing longer compositions by adding details and sensory images. |
