Welcome to my webpage!  I graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Education and then I received my MS in Education from Stephen F. Austin.  I have grades 8-12 Secondary Certification in Social Studies and grades 1-8 Elementary Cerification General Studies.  I have worked for the State of Texas as a caseworker for Child Welfare and Food stamps.  I was at Hallsville Middle School for 15 years teaching 5th grade Language Arts/Social Studies and I have been with Chapel Hill for 5 years.  My first year was at Kissam with the 5th grade teaching Language Arts and the next 4 years teaching 8th grade social studies.

Classroom Activities

8th grade social studies is a tested area for the TAKS test each spring.  The social studies test will take place on Friday, May 1, 2009.  Below are some helpful and fun links to help reinforce what is being taught in class.  Students use their school log on and can practice at home too!

Course Descriptions

SOCIAL STUDIES                                                                                       All Year

 

United States history from the nation’s inception through Reconstruction is studied in this course. The following objectives will be covered: 1) United States development as an independent, unified nation 2) Geographic influences on the historical development of the United States 3) Economic development and growth of the United States 4) Social and cultural development of the United States 5) Political development of the United States and 6) Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.
