Hello from 7th Grade Science Lab!

6th Six Weeks at a glance:

This six weeks will be a little different than others.  During the first part of this six weeks I will be instructing your child in a abstance program called FACTS that is from the Virginity Rules program created by the Longview Wellness Center.  This program will instruct your child in ways to make wise choices about drugs and sexual activity.  It also teaches your child great character traits that they should strive for.  It shows them how they are important and how the choices they make are just as important to their future.  While they will be getting this instruction from me, Ms. Hallberg will begin instruction on the systems of the body.  These systems include the respiritory, circulatory, digestive, just to name a few.  They will not get any kind of a grade from the FACTS program, but will be getting grades from Ms. Hallberg on the body systems.  After I finish the FACTS program I will be demonstrating to them the different systems by disecting a fetal pig.  You can see below the vocabulary for this six weeks.  Your child needs to know and understand all of these terms, not only for success in Science this six weeks, but for success when they take the Science TAKS test next year in 8th grade.  At the end of each six weeks we take a six weeks exam that is very closely related to how the TAKS test will be put together.  Success or failure on this exam will closely relate to how well they may perform on the TAKS test they will take in the 8th grade.  I ask that you encourage your child to be mindful of the need to study for these six weeks exams.

The 7th Grade Science classes are a little different this year. Ms. Hallberg will be teaching the lecture/notes part of Science, and I will be doing the Labs. The students need to bring their Composition Books to my Lab every day. They may also use this in Ms. Hallberg's class, but it is not required.
