This six weeks we will be focusing on TAKS testing skills.  We are preparing our students for the Reading TAKS test that they will take at the end of April.  We will work on inferencing skills, style, tone, and graphic organizers.  We will also read some stories from our literature book and work on comprehension questions.

AR Reading - Students should read for 20 minutes every night. AR is 20% of  the reading class grade, so please encourage your child to read.

READING                                              All Year

Seventh grade reading builds on the concepts and skills previously taught to assist students in becoming successful readers. This goal is met through an aligned and integrated curriculum using the TEKS. Strong emphasis is placed on vocabulary development, listening skills, reading rate, and comprehension skills. Students are exposed to various types of literature. In addition, reading is applied to everyday life experiences. The Accelerated Reader program is used to develop independent reading skills and promote lifelong readers.
