Newton.jpgAbout Mrs. Newton

Many changes have occurred in Education over the past 35 years and the past 19 years in CHISD have been the best of my career especially here at the Middle School.  Having taught grades 2-8 and all subjects,  this year has been so rewarding in the Reading/Dyslexia areas.

I am looking forward to a great 1st semester and would like to invite you to come and visit in the classroom.  The Dyslexia Rally to Read Program is extraordinary and I am very excited about the progress of our students. The theme this year is Reading is Succeeding.  It is my hope that all of our students will be successful.

Course Descriptions

READING                                  All Year

The goal of the reading curriculum is to provide the skills and knowledge for students to become successful readers. This goal is met through an aligned and integrated curriculum using the TEKS. Strong emphasis is placed on vocabulary development, listening skills, reading rate, and comprehension skills. Literary appreciation is developed through exposure to the various genres of literature. The Accelerated Reader program is used to develop independent reading skills and encourage the desire to read.
