Course Descriptions

MATH                        All Year

Mathematics, grade seven, includes the following TEKS objectives: 1) Recognizing and using numbers in a variety of equivalent forms 2) Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing to solve problems and justify solutions 3) Using equations to solve problems 4) Comparing and classifying shapes using geometric vocabulary and properties 5) Solving application problems involving estimation and measurement 6) Recognizing a physical or mathematical model can be used to describe the probability of real events 7) Using a measure of central tendency and range to describe a set of data 8) Applying mathematics to solve problems connected to everyday experiences.

Pre-AP MATH            All Year

This course includes the same TEKS objectives as seventh grade math; however, the concepts will be taught at a more complex level. This course exposes students to the type of expectations and activities required by the AP program. Pre-algebra concepts will be included to prepare the students for Algebra in the eighth grade. Students who do not maintain at least an 80% class average are subject to being transferred into a regular math class.
