About Mrs. Gribble

I have been teaching at Chapel Hill High School since January 2004.  After teaching English II for one semester, I began teaching English III in the fall of 2004.  In my 18+ years of teaching, I have taught all levels of English and TAKS English Language Arts focus classes.  I was selected as a technology scholar by the district last year and have new technology in my classroom that aids the students in preparing them for TAKS and success in the classroom.

Classroom Activities

English III students began a research assignment last Monday, April 21.  Students in my English III Periods 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8 are researching an author from American Literature and some newer authors covering British, childrens and Hispanic literature.  ESL students in my Period 3 English III are researching Latino/Hispanic entertainment personalities.

Students will work two days in the computer lab to locate a minumum of three different website sources with information on their topic with a focus on literary information rather than biographical.  Students will also work two days in the library to research for two printed sources with literary information on their topic.  I will begin Tuesday, April 28 with instruction focusing on how to document sources within the paper and how to prepare a works cited page containing the sources for their information.  Because TAKS is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week, the final due date will be set at the end of next week for all work to come in.  The paper must be handwritten (no typed papers accepted this time) with all documentation and works cited completed within the handwritten rough draft.  Revising and editing marks must be visible on the completed paper in a color other than the blue or black ink the student is using to write their paper.

If you have any questions about your student's assignment, please contact me at the school, 903-566-2311, Ext. 1476.  If necessary, leave me a message and a phone number so I can return your call.
