Our school year started on a great note August 22nd as the faculty and staff gathered at the Green Acres Retreat Lodge to reconnect with their Chapel Hill Middle School family. We introduced our six new family members and the theme for the year: Attitude = Altitude. Students returned just a few days later, eager to accept the challenge and reported that they too were "ready for take-off" towards another year of academic excellence at CHMS! Student enrollment figures are at a record high for the last ten years. We currently have 710 students at Chapel Hill Middle School. These students are excited about participating in one of the many outstanding extra-curricular activities that we offer on our campus. Both the boys' and girls' athletic programs have seen a significant increase in participation. We currently have 156 boys and 99 girls in seventh and eighth grade athletics. Our choir program continues to grow as well under Mrs. Bender's direction. We have 101 students in our two 7th and 8th grade choir classes. Our phenomenal band program is thriving in their newly expanded facilities. We had an increase in all three grade levels with 101 students involved in the sixth grade band and 142 students participating in the Symphonic and Concert bands. At CHMS, we strongly believe that involved students are successful students! Consequently, we are thrilled about the number of students who are involved in these programs as well as many of the other flourishing organizations we offer on our campus.
