About Ms. Wilson

Ms. Beverly Wilson is currently in her 30th school year.  All thirty years have been with the Chapel Hill ISD.  Ms. Wilson begain her tenure as a student teacher in the spring of 1978 for Mrs. Carol George.  Upon Mrs. George's departure, Ms. Wilson was hired August 1978 as a Business Education/English teacher.  Mrs. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from the University of Texas at Tyler with teaching fields in Business and English.  Ms Wilson children, Dodie and LaToyia, are graduates of Chapel Hill.

Course Descriptions

Keyboarding I (4010)
Grades: 9-12    Length: 1 semester     Credit: ½ credit      GPA weight: 1.0

Note: This course is a prerequisite for BCIS I, Yearbook I, and Business Support Systems.

This course emphasizes:

  • skill in operating keyboard by touch at acceptable accuracy and speed
  • formatting of basic documents for personal and business use

Business Communications (4000)
Grade: 12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Counselor recommendation

Note: This course meets the English IV requirement on the Minimum graduation plan.  Not recommended for college-bound students as an English credit.

This course emphasizes:

  • reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for effective communication in business situations
  • the ability to send and receive clear and complete oral, written, and electronic messages
  • the mechanics of word usage, sentence structure, organization of ideas, and composition of various types of messages; includes experiences in listening and responding

Business Computer Information Systems I (4047)
Grades: 10-12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.1
Prerequisite: Keyboarding or equivalent

Note: This course meets the requirements for Technology Applications credit.  This course articulates on the state-wide articulation plan with community colleges for 3 hours of college credit with a "B" or higher. Such a grade also qualifies as an Advanced Measure on the Distinguished Achievement Plan.

This course emphasizes:

  • word processing, spreadsheets, databases
  • telecommunication
  • desktop publishing
  • presentation management
  • web page development
