About Ms. Roberson

Annie Roberson has taught at Chapel Hill High school for five years.  She currently teaches Government and AP U.S. History.  She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a B.S. in Political Science.  Mrs. Roberson has a Secondary Social Studies Composite in grades sixth through twelfth.  She is currently the National Honor Society sponsor and plans on taking a group of students to the 2009 Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C. in January.

Annie is married to David Roberson and they live in Tyler.  They have four children: Jennifer, John, Amber, and Gabriel.  They also have one grandchild, Landon, at this time.

Course Descriptions

United States History AP (0401)
Grade: 11    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year     GPA weight: 1.4
Prerequisite: Departmental approval

Note: Students enrolled in this course are required to pay for and take the Advanced Placement United States History exam. The approximate cost to the student for each AP exam is $45. Any student who scores a 3, 4, or 5 on the AP exam may earn 3 hours of college credit. Such a score also qualifies as an Advanced Measure for the Distinguished Achievement graduation plan.

This course emphasizes:

  • the history of the United States from the discovery and settlement period to the present
  • analysis and interpretation of primary sources, including documentary material, maps, statistical tables, and pictorial and graphic evidence of historical events

United States Government (0430)
Grade: 12    Length: 1 semester     Credit: ½ credit      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisites: U.S. History, World Geography and World History
This course emphasizes:

  • the study of the functions and processes of the government of the United States
  • the exploration of political parties and interest groups
  • an in-depth study of the Constitution and its application today
  • the exploration of students' own beliefs and values and their role in our political system
