Class Information

The Musical Junkyard

The 2nd Grade classes have been learning about musical instruments, the families they belong to, and how they make their sounds.  We did a science experiment on "Sound and Vibrations", visited several websites on musical instruments and how to make your own, and spent a few days exploring instruments through a variety of discovery stations.  Using what we have learned, I have given the kids an opportunity to create their own instrument.  This is  completely optional!  You can use the websites I have included below to help with getting ideas or your child can invent their own musical instrument.  It has to be made out of "junk" and it has to create a sound.  The kids need to use what they have learned to help them with this project.  When they are finished, they can bring the musical instruments to my class and we will display them in our "Musical Junkyard".  Good luck and happy music making!

"Seussical" Thank You

Our "Seussical" was a huge sensation-  A fan-tabulous birthday celebration.

It far exceeded my expectation.  So, I'll try to express my appreciation.

To the 1st Grade Kids:  You did so good!  But then, I always knew you would;

To every parent who helped their kid- Aren't you proud of what they did!?

To all the teachers who helped kids know when to come in and just where to go;

To all those who helped so much with costumes, props, ideas, and such;

To families, friends, and everyone who came to watch the "Seuss"-silly fun;

  To everyone who had a part, thank you from the depths of my heart!

And, of course, to Dr. Seuss for his magical rhymes, thanks, thanks, thanks a bi-zillion times!!!
