About Coach Steele

Mr. Coach Steele is in his 4th year at CHISD.  He graduated from SFA with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002. Coach Steele teaches 10th graders AP World History and 11th graders U. S. History.  In addition, he is a sponsor of our campus Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  His coaching fields include basketball and track.

Course Descriptions

World History Pre-AP (0411)
Grade: 10    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.2
Prerequisite: Average of "85" or higher in World Geography and teacher recommendation

Note: This course is designed for the college-bound, highly motivated student willing to invest an extra commitment to prepare for Social Studies Advanced Placement courses.

In addition to fundamental geographic and historical concepts, this course emphasizes:

  • higher level analysis of world situations
  • reading and writing about social studies topics in addition to the regular textbook

United States History (0400)
Grade: 11    Length: 2 semesters      Credit: 1 credit per year       GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Successful completion of World Geography and World History
This course emphasizes:

  • Reconstruction to the Present
  • economic, political, cultural, and geographic trends in our nation's history
  • the historic emergence of the United States as a world power
  • a multi-faceted view of our nation in changing times through literature, music, art, and film
  • the impact of constitutional issues on American society and the analysis of efforts to expand the democratic process

Girls Athletics (2062, 2048)
Grades: 10-12    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Approval of Head Coach
This course emphasizes:

  • skills required for volleyball, basketball, track, softball
  • strength and conditioning
  • teamwork through competition

9th Grade Girls Athletics (2059)
Grade: 9    Length: 2 semesters     Credit: 1 credit per year      GPA weight: 1.0
Prerequisite: Approval of Head Coach
This course emphasizes:

  • developing the same skills as Girls Athletics (see above)
