• OUR RESPONSIBILITY

    Our Human Resources Department is responsible for maintaining a well-staffed school district with employees who are able to perform their duties effectively for the best interests of the tax payers, of course, and most importantly for the students.

    OUR GOAL

    The most important responsibility of CHISD is to promote the highest level of student learning. Successful learning is shaped by offering our children “highly qualified”, diverse staff of teachers who have a passion for teaching. Our goal is to attract, train, and retain teachers who have what it takes to contribute positively to our students, our schools, and our community.

    OUR COMMUNITY

    Considered by many to be a small district, CHISD values the involvement of the community, the businesses, and the parents. Our school district considers parent involvement essential to the success of our students. Our parents are active in volunteering, serving on committees, and participating in our e-mail list to stay current on student progress, and in many other ways.

    OUR GEOGRAPHICAL AREA

    Located in the beautiful Piney Woods of East Texas near several lakes, CHISD is in the Tyler area of Smith County. The district covers 118 square miles and includes a small portion of the city of Tyler, the University of Texas at Tyler, the Jackson community and the city of New Chapel Hill. Although Tyler is a thriving city of more than 80,000, the Chapel Hill District maintains a small town rural atmosphere. This area offers numerous churches, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, shopping centers, medical facilities, etc.
