During the 2012-2013 school year, CHISD administration identified facility improvements throughout the district. The list of items was shared with the CHISD Board of Trustees. At the Board's request, the District's architectural firm conducted an assessment of Chapel Hill Middle School, Chapel Hill High School Career and Technical Education Facility, Bulldog Stadium, the Bulldog Baseball/Softball Complex, CHISD Transportation, Maintenance, and Child Nutrition Service Facilities and other District Facilities.
The firm studied these facilities in terms of educational appropriateness, building code compliance, handicap accessibility, and general building conditions. The firm then worked with the District to create a possible Master Plan for these facilities.
Upon reviewing the campus and district facility improvement lists, the facility assessment, and the corresponding recommendations, the Board called a bond election totaling $31,200,000 to be voted on November 5, 2013.
