About Us
Chapel Hill Independent School District is located in eastern Smith County, Texas. The district covers 118 square miles and includes a small portion of the city of Tyler, the University of Texas at Tyler, the Jackson community and the city of New Chapel Hill.

The district is rated as 4-A by the University Interscholastic League.
The district was originally established in the 1950-51 school year with 12 seniors in the 1951 graduating class.

Chapel Hill ISD is blessed with an excellent child-centered faculty and support staff. There are 259 professional staff members including teachers, professional support, campus and central administration.

In addition, Chapel Hill ISD employs 182 educational aides and auxiliary staff to serve students. The schools are well staffed and provide an outstanding education for Chapel Hill ISD students with approximately 24% of certified personnel holding advanced degrees.
