Degrees and Certifications:
I am one of the dyslexia interventionists at Kissam Elementary. Helping children "crack the code" of reading is a true joy. However, to take all of those learned skills and deeply, emotionally enjoy a story or book is what brings my students and me the most pleasure together.
I have been in Chapel Hill since I, myself, was in the third grade. After high school graduation I attended TJC and UT @ Tyler. I began my teaching career at Wise Elementary in the fall of 1986. After spending eight years at Stepping Stone School (beginning in 1995), I returned to Chapel Hill's Kissam campus in 2001.
School, it seems, has always been part of my life, for I started out in a 'mom-formed' pre-school at age three. I suppose school will be part of my retirement, too, because my husband and I have almost finished building a little red one-room schoolhouse on our farm. Maybe I will tutor............................
