-Students will be taking their practice Reading and Math STAAR tests this week on Wednesday and Thursday. We will practice our day just as it would be on the day of their real tests in May. We are not allowing visitors to come eat with their child because they will not be able to on the day of the real STAAR tests.
-Literacy Night-Tuesday from 5:00-6:30
-Water Park Rubrics went home last week. Please make sure you talked to your child about this opportunity and how they will earn their points to be able to go. This is a major privilege for the students to earn and super fun!
-Spring Break: March 13th- 17th
We are taking a Writing Practice test on Monday to practice for the STAAR at the end of March. Please make sure your child has a good night's rest and a yummy breakfast to help them do their best.
We have a few things coming up at the end of February and beginning of March so please be checking your child's folder for information concerning these events. (Family Literacy Night, Book Fair, Texas Public Schools Week)

4th Grade Valentine parties are Tuesday at 2:00. Check with your child for a note from their teacher concerning their party.
This week is the last week of the 4th 6 weeks and we will not have new spelling words.

**Kissam Kick-off is Thursday, August 18th from 5:00-7:00. Bring your child to meet their teacher and drop off any supplies you have.
**First day of school is Monday, August 22, 2016.
**Please make sure you have updated your child's information in Skyward Family Access. You can talk to your child's teacher if you are having trouble and we will get you what you need.
**New school hours are from 8:00-3:20. This means that our instruction time will begin AT 8:00 and students will receive a tardy if they get to school at or after 8:00. This also means the afternoon bus schedule will be running later than it has in past years. Please call Transportation to make sure your child still rides the same bus and the approximate time it will be running.
**Students can start being dropped off at 7:15 and they will go to the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 7:15-7:45 for those who chose to have breakfast at school.

Library books were due Friday, May 13th. Please turn in any that are still at home and/or pay for any lost or damaged books.
We can no longer charge in the cafeteria. The last day to charge was last week. Your student will need to bring a lunch or lunch money.
Menus for April
*Pictures and/or picture money was due last week! These must be turned in for your student to be able to attend any field trips or parties.
*The hot pink water park information sheet with a parent/guardian's signature was also due last week. Please check with your child's teacher about getting this page if you did not receive one. This paper tells you how many points your child needs to earn to be able to attend the Splash Kingdom trip in May. (3rd-5th grades only)
*Math and Reading homework will start coming home this week! Reading will be Monday/Wednesday and Math will be Tuesday/Thursday.

This week we will practice taking the STAAR test.
Kissam always eagerly welcomes parents and guardians but our
3rd – 5th graders will be taking practice STAAR tests on Feb 15, 16 and 17, so we will not be
able to welcome visitors on these days. Our lunch and conference
schedules will change for the entire campus to allow the best testing
environment for our students. We appreciate your understanding and
support in helping all of our students be successful.

Jump Rope/ Hoops For Heart is coming soon
Parents, we are excited to kick off Jump Rope/Hoops For
Heart! Your student is becoming a Heart Hero by taking care of their own heart,
spreading the message of the American Heart Association, and raising funds for
life saving research. Have your student jump online at www.heart.org/jump or www.heart.org/hoops to send emails and
ask for donations. ANY STUDENT THAT GOES ONLINE AND GETS A DONATION WILL BE
RECOGNIZED AND RECEIVE SUPER PUP AND NINJA STAR.

If you have not signed up for Class Dojo, you are missing out! You are able to check your child's behavior DAILY and see pics of what's going on. You can also send your child's teacher a message ANYTIME during the day!! (We do ask that you don't allow your child to send the teacher messages after 5:00 or on the weekends.) Check with your child's teacher to get the specific code for your own child. And yes, you can add all your children that attend Kissam!!
Our first Bulldog Pride Assembly will be this Friday! If your student earned their Dojo points, then they will be attending. Check with your child to see what their goal was.
Multiplication fact tests will be starting this week. Quiz your child on the way to or from school, on the way to baseball/football/soccer/dance/gymnastics, or after dinner time!
If you coach a team, quiz your team on their facts for us to help out their parents!
